Keyboard Tips
If you find yourself continually having to reach for that mouse
to use the cut, paste, and copy while using your favorite text editing
application you should probably take a look at a couple of command
shortcuts that will allow you to keep your hands on the keyboard.
- Press Shift + the left or right arrow to highlight text.
- Press Ctrl + a to select all the information in the current
area.
- Press Ctrl + c to copy text.
- Press Ctrl + x to cut text.
- Press Ctrl + v to paste text.
- Press Ctrl + p to print the current page or file.
- Press Ctrl + z to undo your last entry or change.
- Press Ctrl + y to redo what you did before.
- Press Ctrl + n to open a new browser window. (note: the new
browser will look the same as the one you were in when performing
this shortcut – treat as new window).
- Press F1 to access the Help file for the application you are
using.
- Press F11 to view the current website in full screen mode. It
reduces the headers and footers. Press F11 again to return to
normal.
